Gino Pozzo

Gino Pozzo is a British-Italian businessman co-owner of Watford F.C and Queens Park Rangers.

Gino Pozzo was born in 1965 to Italian parents who had migrated to London in 1961. Gino was educated at Harvard University, and after graduating, he worked in the financial sector before becoming one of the founding partners of Enic International Limited. This company invests in sports clubs, as well as other international companies.

Gino Pozzo became co-chairman of Queens Park Rangers F.C. on 25th March 2011 with his father Giampiero Pozzo, following a takeover agreement with previous club chairman Amit Bhatia for a majority shareholding and day-to-day running of the club. He is also co-owner of the Championship team Watford F.C.

In August 2014, Gino led a takeover of Watford Football Club, with the club reportedly selling for more than £500 million. It was the highest price paid for a football club at the time. With his father Giampiero, Gino is co-chairman of both QPR and Watford.

Gino Pozzo’s son, Joe, started his career at Wembley Stadium as a ballboy for England’s friendly versus Brazil in 2013. He then joined the same club as a ballboy before being promoted to the role of goalkeeper’s coach. He also joined Watford in 2015 as Goalkeeping coach, replacing Maarten Stekelenburg, who had left to become manager of Roma.

In addition to being an owner, Gino Pozzo was appointed at the start of the 2017–18 season as a non-executive director of the Football Association.

Gino Pozzo’s father, Giampiero Pozzo, is also a businessman; he owns Watford FC and Queens Park Rangers F.C. His mother, Maria Teresa, bought a house worth £1 million in St Albans, Herts.

Cambridge University has awarded Gino Pozzo an Honorary Doctorate, and he is a member of the University’s Council. A keen sportsman (he is a fan of American Football, cricket and tennis), he was named ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ in 2007 by the Watford Observer. He was appointed Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2017 for services to sport. See related link for additional information.
